Desk 02 — National Title Recovery Desk
No title? That's a paperwork problem. We solve paperwork problems.
Every state has lawful lanes for a real vehicle with a broken paper trail. They are slower and more specific than the internet's “magic state” stories — the most famous of those (Vermont bill-of-sale titling) has been closed since July 2023 — and they work when they're done by the book. Start with a free eligibility check: tell us the vehicle, the state, and what paper you actually have. We route you to the lane that exists, or we tell you there isn't one.
Bonded title
Most states; not a Florida lane for cars. The state sets a bond — commonly 1.5× the vehicle's value (some states 2×) — issued by a licensed surety. The premium is roughly 1–2% of the bond (published schedule benchmark: $100 flat up to a $6,699 bond, then $15 per $1,000). File within 30 days of buying the bond; bonded title in about 4–6 weeks; the brand clears after about 3 years. We handle valuation, bond placement with the licensed surety (we are not the surety; the premium is a pass-through at the surety's price), the packet, and the county filing — plus a reminder when your brand-clearing date arrives.
Court-ordered title
For states without a bonded lane and for contested paper. Court filing fees run $50–$450; a straightforward uncontested case typically totals $200–$800 in government/third-party costs and takes 2–6 months. We prepare the petition packet, order the title/lien search, manage notice/publication, and calendar the hearing. If your case is contested, we refer you to an attorney — we prepare paperwork; we don't practise law.
Lien-sale paperwork (for shops, tow, and storage operators)
Statutory lien sales are unforgiving: in the benchmark regime (California Civil Code §§3068–3074), authorisation must be sought within 30 days of the lien arising or the lien dies, and timelines run ~35–45 days (vehicles under $4,000) to ~90–150 days (above). We run the authorisation packet, owner/lienholder notices, publication, sale paperwork, and the buyer's title packet — per vehicle, on your state's checklist, built before we take your first unit.
Lost-title duplicates & record recovery
A duplicate can only come from the state that issued the title, to the owner of record (or their POA/court representative). We locate the record state (including pre-title-era vehicles), verify identity and liens, and bundle the duplicate + transfer. If the title isn't yours to duplicate, we stop — that request is the fraud pattern, not a service.
Pricing honesty
Eligibility check: free. After triage you get a written packet price and the government/surety costs at their published schedules before you decide. If we take your case and cannot complete it, our fee is refunded under the Refund-Until-Filed guarantee (and after filing, if completion becomes impossible, our fee is still refunded — government and surety amounts only to the extent they are refunded to us).
What we will not do (title edition)
No brand washing. No VIN workarounds. No “duplicate” for a vehicle you don't own. No back-dated bills of sale. If a previous owner, lienholder, or court has to be part of the answer, we tell you at triage — before money moves.
